Billy Gray, a surfer and painter, from Palos Verdes near Los Angeles since the 1960's, paints visual images with the lyrical poetry of abstract expressionism. He studied oil painting under the tutelage of Frederick Taubes from 1966 to 1976. He graduated from UC Irvine with a BFA in 1976.. In 1976, under the influence of Joe Sosa he switched from oil painting to acrylic painting. For 10 years, from 1983 to 1993, Billy researched and developed sacred geometry mandalas.

Billy currently travels the world painting with his wife and fellow artist, Kathleen Gray. Together they have established Humanitarian Murals, a non profit project of helping villages worldwide paint murals from their village folk memories.(www.facebook.com/humanitarianmurals).
